Fire Ellen, One Million Moms tell JC Penney

Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres is the new face of a revamped JC Penney and One Million Moms is not pleased. It is asking for Ellen to be removed to '"remain neutral in the culture war."

JC Penney is facing demands to end its brand new relationship with Ellen DeGeneres before it really gets rolling.

One Million Moms wants its members and all interested parties to phone Penney's corporate office to express displeasure with the association between the retail company and an "open homosexual." who is not a representative of traditional families.

The organization's website considers the effort to be near the top of its list of important issues, just behind the praise of Susan G. Komen For The Cure cutting off donations to Planned Parenthood.

DeGeneres, according to One Million Moms "...is not a true representation of the type of families that shop at their store." and the organization believes families will stay away from JC Penney as a result of the association with Ellen.

"Unless JC Penney decides to be neutral in the culture war then their brand transformation will be unsuccessful." It was only yesterday, February 1 that Penney unveiled their new retail strategy, logo and corporate philosophy.

Penney will no longer be part of the seemingly endless stream of sales, promotions and special offers that bombard customers. Their pledge is to give shoppers an everyday low price with discount events occurring twice a month.

The new CEO Rob Johnson pledged that the revamped efforts are to become more attuned to the needs of retail customers and to reconnect with people who stopped shopping at JC Penney. Read: Why did JC Penney change its retail strategy?

Stores will be redesigned into 100 boutique-like departments to make the experience quicker and easier for Penney shoppers.

One Million Moms believes that it will be a failure if Ellen is not cut loose and soon, because DeGeneres herself proclaimed that the new-look JC Penney understands what Americans want.

"They have an incredible vision for the future and are completely re-inventing themselves to become America's favorite store," said DeGeneres in a press statement about her decision to be the public face of the company.

One Million Moms is a project sponsored by the American Family Association.which claims to be "...one of the largest and most effective pro-family organizations in the country with over two million online supporters. AFA uses all these means to communicate an outspoken, resolute, Christian voice throughout America."
