The Kim Kardashian-Kris Humphries divorce is moving along in an amicable fashion but might have hit a stumbling block. The Katy Perry-Russell Brand divorce papers were filed.
What the two divorce actions have in common, besides four celebrities is that neither husband wants money from the woman he married. It was reported yesterday that Brand and Perry officially came to terms on the dissolution of their marriage without money changing hands.
Katy Perry racked up tens of millions in worldwide earnings during her time with the actor-comedian, far more than Russell Brand but he chose to take the high road.
TMZ.com reported that in the divorce petition, Perry will retake her birth name (Kathleen Elizabeth Hudson) and keep 100% of what would have been considered community property under the laws of the state of California.
Without a pre-nup he was entitled to 50% of what she earned while they were married. In what can only be described as very unusual in Hollywood Brand displayed the gentlemanly side of himself, although some think he was crazy to do so.
The couple were married in October 2010 and made their separation public only two months ago in December 2011. Perry has not been seen with anyone yet but there are rumors that Brand is sweet on newly separated Zooey Deschanel.
In a similar move, Kris Humphries has told Kim Kardashian that he will take nothing from her but unlike Brand, the decision comes at a price that means more to him than money.
Reported today by radaronline.com is the news that Humphries wants Kim K to admit she married him under false pretenses, which the celebrity website reported will never happen.
The fact that Humphries isn't trying to soak his wife of less than 80 days is good news for those that believe he deserves none of it, and his demand will satisfy observers who think she got married as a plot line for one or more of the family's reality television shows on E!.
Humphries reportedly bases his insistence on scripts of the recently concluded, "Kourtney and Kim Take New York." Allegations have been made, based on a close look at Kim and her mother Kris Jenner's clothing choices on one day in December 2011 near a Hollywood studio.
Their fashions matched up with the clothing the two wore during a scene that according to the script, occurred in October 2011.
In it, the mother and daughter have a heart-to-heart about Kim's conclusion that her marriage is over. The scene was purportedly shot in Dubai while the two were in the backseat of a taxi cab.
Greater mysteries have been solved based on simple observations and Humphries thinks that if the Kardashians would stage a scene about a sad and sensitive marital split, why wouldn't they have dreamed up the marriage as a good plot device for the reality show's 2011 season.
Humphries was without a contract to play basketball after the marital split but once the NBA lockout ended, he was offered a one year deal to re-sign with the New Jersey Nets which ESPN estimates to be worth close to $8 million. It is more than double his previous year's salary.
