Pawn Stars: Chumlee gets a Harley and goes to Sturgis

The Harrison family of Pawn Stars fame is a tight one. It includes Chumlee, the BFF of grandson Corey "Big Hoss" Harrison. In the latest episode on History, Corey went shopping for him.

On the Pawn Stars show, "Thirty Something", Corey Harrison wants to give best friend Chumlee a fitting gift for his thirtieth birthday.

The Harrison men were getting ready to take part in the 72nd edition of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally that occurred a month ago (August 6-12, 2012).

It all revolves around the town of Sturgis, South Dakota, where a population of less than 7,000 swells massively each summer when the motorcycle community comes to town.

According to a South Dakota travel website, "Since 1938, Sturgis has welcomed motorcycle enthusiasts from across the United States and around the world to the annual Motorcycle Rally. Based out of this small community in the northern Black Hills, the Rally officially runs for seven days every August."

Day trips from Sturgis for motorcyclists in attendance include, Mount Rushmore (62 miles), Crazy Horse Memorial (67 miles), Custer State Park (75 miles), Spearfish Canyon (20 miles), Deadwood (13 miles) and the Badlands (110 miles).

Corey and dad Rick are raring to go but since the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop doesn't close for that period of time, someone's got to keep the customers happy.

Rick is excited. "The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally will be amazing. It's an 1,100 miles trip from here (Vegas) to Sturgis. 400,000 bikes in attendance and we get to ride by Mount Rushmore. It's gonna be a real blast and something I've been wanting to do for years."

Chumlee whined to Rick that he wanted to go. In the most cold and direct voice he's got, Rick said, "Hey Chum you're working." Corey added, "Someone's got to help out The Old Man."

Chumlee offered the services of another employee rather than him and was shot down. When he got agitated, Corey kept up the show of force while knowing that his pal was going to come along and on a new bike to boot.

It was then that it was revealed to The Old Man that "they" were giving Chumlee a motorcycle for his birthday. He was turning the Big 3-0 and only the best was good enough for him.

The Old Man pleaded for economy and Corey went out in search of a decent bike to surprise Chumlee. He found one nearby off Craigslist.org.

It was a 1985 FXR Harley Davidson that had more than $7,000 worth of work done to the engine alone.

The owner wanted $10,500 for it but should have known he was going to have to settle for way less once the Pawn Star cameras showed up.

As an extra measure of force, Corey called in Danny "The Count" Koker to evaluate it. Danny thought it was in tip-top shape with just a few small things to do to it.

When the bidding was done, Corey got the bike for $6,500 and as the episode ended, Corey was ready to surprise Chumlee with his big gift and a trip to Sturgis.

I saw advertisements for Pawn Stars going to Sturgis with the Count, Rick and the American Pickers going to Sturgis. I thought they said it would be on tonight 10/22/2012. I do not see it in the TV guide and Tuesday at 11 is just another repeat. Do you know when the show will be on that shows Chumblee getting the bike. Thank you Bill Morgan

I checked the show's site at the History Channel. There are four full episodes you could watch there but none are the Sturgis episode. The show's in reruns right now so History is picking and choosing what to play each week in the Monday time slot. Keep checking the site to see if they'll get around to that one.

Chumlee is a fat slob, and Cory Big (fat) Hoss is not far behind!
