Peeps are ready for Easter and much more. With its first TV ad about to roll and new varieties of Peeps on the market, its 60th anniversary is special.
It turns out that Peeps aficionados have unique stories about their love of Peeps and how to get them to taste just right.
The Associated Press reported on the company's 60th year of making and selling the marshmallow candies we now look for around other holidays besides Easter.
There are tales of Peeps lovers who slit open the cellophane on the package and place the box on top of their refrigerator for two days.
Only then do the Peeps have that certain crunchiness that some might call stale. One man's stale is another's perfection, I guess.
With Peeps maker, First Born, Inc. branching out into more than marshmallow treats, Peeps have hit their stride and 2012 was the best revenue year in the company's history. Check out the first-ever Peeps commercial, posted below.

How about Peeps on a stick, packaged as lollipops?
Building on the chick theme, there is a Peeps candy with a yellow marshmallow chick sitting in a broken half-shell of milk chocolate.
For chocolate lovers who never got the hang of the bright colored marshmallow candy, Peeps now come dipped in chocolate mousse.
Easter purists who want a bunny-shaped candy in their basket, now have a Giant Marshmallow Bunny in white, trimmed with an orange carrot and green bow tie. Giant size means its "shareable" as the folks at Peeps say.
And that's just the fun stuff for Easter.
Valentine's Day brought us red and brown colored chocolate dipped strawberry creme Peeps and chocolate mousse flavored marshmallow bears.
For vanilla lovers everywhere, there were Valentine's Day vanilla creme flavored marshmallow hearts.
