Joan Rivers and company were sitting in judgement on the week in celeb fashions as E!'s Fashion Police was once again in session.
Managing without new mother Giuliana Rancic, whose Emmy Awards break from maternity leave was over, Joan brought in daughter Melissa to fill Giuliana's chair.
Fans of Fashion Police are used to seeing cutaway shots of Melissa in her exec producer role, but proud mama Joan introduced her as the designer of the Cool People line at Zappos.com. Missy is branching out.
The Must See Looks of the Week included:
Sharon Stone in Rome wore a custom Roberto Cavali gown. The black halter top, low cut number was notable for one thing. The material was shredded in side cut-outs that began right under her armpit and ended at the top of her thighs. VA VA VOOM!
Joan opined: "I hope when I'm that age I look that good," and the cat fest was in full swing. "The shredding is so sexy at her age and it makes it easy to insert her catheter when needed," Rivers continued. "For any age she looks great," said George Kotsiopoulos.
There was one other notable thing about Sharon and the dress. When they stood next to her current 27 year-old beau in a traditional tux the wow factor ramped up past a 10.
Natalie Portman in a Christian Dior strapless, floor length gown in white at a red carpet event. The gown fit tight to her hips then flared into a bell shape to the floor. It was shown on the runway for Dior's Fall 2012 collection as a tea length dress and worn by a model who stands almost six feet tall.
Portman is a few inches over five feet and lengthening the dress made her look bottom heavy and engulfed by the material. "This is overwhelming on her, "George K said.
"If you can't alter a dress to make it look like it should, then don't wear it," offered Kelly Osbourne.
Rihanna at the 40 40 Club in Brooklyn clad in designer resort wear was a stunning sight. From low slung pants with pockets to a three-quarter sleeve, buttoned top left open to display her toned midriff, the singer was resplendent in the hot new gold and white soft print "pajama look".
"I love it. It's so chic. Pajama dressing is a big trend, " George Kotsiopoulos exclaimed. "I love the pajama look with her short dark pixie cut hair," offered Kelly Osbourne. Joan Rivers could not disagree. Click here for the photo of Rihanna in the outfit.
In the popular segment "Bitch Stole My Look" the panel dissected the latest in the red carpet duplicates with a twist.
Photos of Taylor Swift and Katrina Bowden of 30 Rock fame, were viewed side-by-side, clad in versions of a Badgley Mischka dress. The dress featured a split colored bottom with light silver from the waist to mid-thigh and darker silver-grey to the hemline.
On Katrina, the dress was shortened about four inches above her knees, so that the dark band of color was not as overwhelming as on Taylor Swift. The dress length on Swift hit her at the knees, with the dark silver making her look dowdy and the bands of color on the dress seem out of sync.
"I pick the dress on Katrina because like I always say about an appearance by Taylor Swift, the shorter the better," screamed Joan Rivers. "The dress ages her," said Kelly about Taylor Swift. "It makes her look older."
"Taylor's body doesn't fit the belted waist line," added Melissa Rivers.
So despite the fact that Swift wore it a few years ago and Katrina stole the look, the shortened, more fresh version of the dress won the day for the Fashion Police.
