Drummer and solo artist Ringo Star is assembling a new 'All Starr' band as he looks to embark on another North American tour in 2012.
The former Beatles drummer announced plans for the upcoming 2012 summer tour to celebrate his newest album, "Ringo 2012," and also revealed the brand new line-up for his newest 'All Starr' group, which has included more than a dozen variations during his years of touring.
The latest 'All Starr' grouping will consist of former Santana and Journey member Gregg Rolle; Toto guitarist Steve Lukather; Nazz, Utopia and The New Cars guitarist and percussionist Todd Rungren; Mr. Mister bassist Richard Page; saxophonist Mark Rivera and Gregg Bissonette.
Previous 'All Starr' lineups have included famed rockers such as Joe Walsh, Dr. John, Billy Preston, Mark Farmer, Peter Frampton, Dave Edmunds, Nils Lofgren, John Waite, Edgar Winter, Billy Squier and Jack Bruce.
As he has done in the past with this "All Starr' tours, Ringo will perform select songs from his various solo albums and Beatles hits, while the other band members will also be invited to play some their own original songs.
The upcoming 'All Starr' 2012 tour is expected to kick off on June 14th with a show at the Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and runs through the month of July where Ringo will play a final set at The Greek theatre in Los Angeles on July 21st.
Released in January of 2012, Starr plays homage to one of his most successful solo albums, "Ringo," with his latest and 17th studio album, "Ringo 2012." It spawned one single, "Wings," which was originally released on the artists' 1977 album, "Ringo the 4th," and was re-recorded for his latest record.
