The hip-hop collective known as Odd Future announced plans for a 2012 tour this week, releasing multiple concert dates for shows in the United States and abroad.
Fresh off of being crowned Best New Artist at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, Tyler, the Creator & Co. will be embarking on a 2012 world tour, according to a video posted by the OFWGKTA channel on YouTube (see below). The North American portion of Odd Future's 17-show concert series is slated to begin on March 9th at the Marquee Theater in Tempe, Arizona and will conclude on March 25th at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, Georgia.
Following the show in Atlanta, the group will head overseas to play at the 02 Academy in Birmingham, England on March 28th, along with four other shows in the United Kingdom. The group will then return to play select shows in San Bernardino, San Francisco and Seattle in early April.
Besides the upcoming tour, the group also announced plans for a new mix-tape, a series of solo albums by its various members, including Tyler, the Creator and MellowHype (Hodgy Beats and Left Brain), and a new comedy show that will premier on Cartoon Network's late night Adult Swim block on March 25th.
Known as Odd Future or Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA), the core members of the cult hip-hop group include rapper and producer Tyler, the Creator, along with rappers Hodgy Beats, Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis and Mike G, singer Frank Ocean and producers Left Brain, Syd tha Kyd and Matt Martians.
The group's debut, a self-released mix-tape album simply called 'The Odd Future Tape' was released in 2007 and Odd Future has since released two others, 'Radical' in 2010 and '12 Odd Future Songs' in 2011. A fourth studio album, 'The Odd Future Tape Vol.2' is tentatively scheduled for release on March 20th, the same day Odd Future is scheduled to play a show in New York.
