Reggae group Steel Pulse reveals 2012 tour dates, new album

Veteran reggae group Steel Pulse announced plans for a new album and a 2012 North American tour this week, beginning with a series of concert dates along the East Coast in February.

The Grammy Award-winning group, who has remained very close to their original identity and roots over the years despite exploring the depths of sound with their music, revealed plans for a 2012 tour, including select North American concert dates.

In their announcement, Steel Pulse also indicated plans for a brand new studio album. It will be the group's first studio album since Steel Pulse released "African Holocaust" in 2004 and the band's 12th studio LP overall. Besides the upcoming record, there is also plans for a documentary of Steel Pulse featuring live footage and interviews for this year.

According to a release, vocalist and guitarist David Hinds, along with vocalist and keyboardist Selwyn Brown will begin touring North America later this month, starting with a show at The National in Richmond, Virginia on February 12th, along with fifteen other showcases across the United States.

Steel Pulse will make just two appearances on the West Coast, with shows at The House of Blues in West Hollywood, California on April 12th, followed by a concert at Belly Up Tavern in Solano Beach, California on April 19th.

The reggae masters are scheduled to play a set at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 27th and will tentatively wrap up the 2012 tour with a show at the 5th Street Beach Stage in Virginia Beach, Virginia on June 2nd.

During the February 25th and 26th concerts at Terminal 5 in New York and Sun House of Blues in Boston, respectively, Steel Pulse will be joined by Galactic, Corey Glover, Soul Rebels Brass Band and Corey Hendry.

Tickets for the upcoming Steel Pulse winter and spring 2012 tour can be purchased at the artists' official website. Check out the full list of 2012 concert dates below.
