Gamers watching the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday received an added bonus: the worldwide premier of the trailer for EA's much-anticipated Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

The second installment of the 2010 Medal of Honor reboot, rumors of Warfighter's development have leaked since February of 2011, with an official release announcement coming just last month.

Warfighter is said to put players in the boots of Tier 1 operatives operating on a truly global scale, meaning players will have the opportunity to take on the role of US Army Nave Seals or British SAS, German KSK and many other of the world's elite forces. And like the global format, the story is also multi-directional, with a number of various in-game events shaping the storyline.

"For the first time in our franchise this game is not based on one historical event but multiple events connected by a single terror threat," said the game's executive producer in a release last month.

"We're going to take you behind the headlines to fight an enemy with many different faces," Goodrich continued. "From rescuing hostages in the Philippines to eliminating the pirate threat on the Somali Coast, every single mission in this game has a dotted line to a real world event. If it sounds familiar you either read it online or you heard it reported on CNN."

While there is still a lot of time in-between now and Medal of Honor: Warfighter's October 23rd release, you can check out the brand-spanking-new trailer below.
