Project Runway All Stars eliminate Rami Kashou

Now's a great time for Rami Kashou's name to circulate through the media waves.

For one thing, Rami designed a few outfits in Madonna's Super Bowl extravaganza half-time show. A few days later, impatient Isaac Mizrahi expels Rami Kashou from Project Runway's All Stars episode.

Where's Heidi Klum when you need her?

Project Runway’s All Star judges aren’t interested in pleasing viewers’ visual senses. Who votes Rami off? Heidi Klum would have held onto Rami because he’s adorable. And this is why viewers love Heidi Klum as a Project Runway judge.

Rami is out because the green “blouse” thing that he made underneath an impeccable coat looked a lot like Michael Jackson’s Scarecrow in “The Wiz.” The lime green blouse thing was sad. Like caesarean section sad.

Designer Austin Scarlett's outfit, a pair of retro slacks with a June Cleaver floral top and sweater (almost a twin set, but something new), made bottom two. Alongside Rami, Austin Scarlett listened to criticism of his outfit.

But it was as if Austin knew something that Kenley and the other All Stars didn’t know in the sewing room. Scarlet likely knew his pants would at least get him to first base. Judge Isaac Mizrahi fell for the pants.

Austin must have had some preternatural sense that a few of the other designers wouldn’t last long in Thursday night's seasonal challenge. He must have known, by observation, that Mila’s coat was be ambitious, but amateurishly executed.

Just looking around the work room, designers get ideas. Like Michael Costello naturally earned his idea from challenge winter Jerrell.

No one could have guessed that Kenley’s retro polka dots would make their way into the judges’ hearts. Kenley's simple, girly (fun, even) designs are designs most Gen Xer’s wore throughout their childhood years. Kenley, oddly enough, dresses like June Cleaver.

Because Austin Scarlet’s colleagues were less than meticulous, he stood out well. Hence Austin Scarlet’s preternatural sense earned him survivor All Star of the year. But as for designs, Austin's fallen flat twice. Even so, he sticks around.

Mila’s ambitious waist-length cape fell short. Ultimately, Mila’s short coat resembled a party favor. Her legging jeans or wanna be jeggings, were baggy on her model.

All Stars isn’t very kind to Mondo Guerra. Even if he his model has the best body on the block. Mondo wept after the judges' critique. Not sure why Mondo wept, those bold exciting Latina flavor colors are old. Two years old. He can't complain about other designers not trying anything new when his color palette hasn't changed. Nor has his jovial enthusiasm for mix and match patterns.

When we first met Mondo, it was clear semiotics inspired Mondo. During Mondo’s regular PR season, one of his best wins was the challenge where designers were inspired from themselves. Mondo designed a pair of houndstooth slacks that appeared meant for his model. Judges loved it.

The hounds tooth design really resembled the HIV positive symbol for Mondo.

Last night’s episode almost saw Mondo going home. Before last night's elimination 8 designers were left and the competition focused on real designing rather than evening wear. The masks were all pulled off.

Viewers don’t understand how Kara’s boring look was preferable to Rami’s poor editing on the green blouse underneath the impeccably made jacket.

Some viewers say the show is “fixed.” And it sure looks a little suspect. Particularly since Rami was a half-time Super Bowl show designer this past Super Bowl Sunday.

Really it’s a coincidence that Rami’s Super Bowl design experience falls in the same week of his PR elimination. Really, it is.
