
As Hurricane Earl continues its way north many resident along the New England area are being warned. The hurricane is expected to hit Cape Cod, Massachusetts Friday night, hurricane watch center had this to say "Tropical storm-force winds will likely reach the coast from Virginia northward to New Jersey by early Friday."
The Center also expects Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket to be impacted by the hurricane, Bill Read National Hurricane Center Director in an interview with the Today show said "Our two biggest concerns are "the coast of North Carolina and extreme southeast Virginia on early Friday morning, late Thursday night, and then on Friday into Saturday for southeastern New England.
Just a small change in the direction of the storm could raise an impact, and the large waves, beach erosion and rip currents will be a problem along the East Coast."
Long island resident brace for impact
Hampton's, Long island Officials and the Red Cross have begun opening shelters that can house up to 60,000 Long Island resident in case the hurricane hit the Hampton's according to the AP, Currently Earl is still 700 miles south-southeast of Cape Hatteras at about 125 mph. These are all precautionary measures as the hurricane is not forecast to hit the area.
