They say he who gets the head start wins the race, then why is Android who came to market after the iPhone winning? its simple, because Apple is letting it.
This has plagued me for sometime now, Android which was released a year after the iPhone has grown exponentially. Thanks in part to Apples At&t exclusivity which locks down the iPhone to that specific carrier, opening the door for Android to grow and snag a significant amount of market share in a short peroid of time. So what would happen if and when At&t exclutivity ends? I think it's a no brainer, Android rapid growth would begin to see rapid decline.
A Verizon iPhone would be the biggest selling device on that carerier, overshadowing many of the other handset's in Verizon's line-up. I'm not the only person thats come to his conclusion Techcrunch resident writer MG Siegler recently weigh in on the subject, "I know a number of people who are Android users simply because of the iPhone/AT&T restriction. If and when the devices comes to Verizon, they will jump ship". Even respected developer at Ebay David Beach suspects the same thing "If the iPhone was on Verizon a year ago. Android would be no where near as popular". Not to take away from android success its an OK OS but its shown time and time again that IOS has a better user experience.
Verizon iPhone already on the way?
I think at this point Apple wants the iPhone on another network and Verizon's is ripe for the picking, with 89 million potential customers it would make a lot of sense. Rumors have been swirling about the iPhone joining Verizon's roster for some time now. Recently the rumors have gotten louder and more frequent, before some of you rip me a new one consider this. One third of AT&T iPhone users want a Verizon iPhone, that's according to survey done by market research firm Morpace and 22 percent of Sprint subscribers and 20 percent of T-Mobile subscribers would switch if the iPhone comes to Verizon.
Verizon isn't the only player in town, T-mobile could just as well get the iPhone and we can't rule out sprint. Regardless of what network the iPhone lands on this spells disaster for Google, at this point the only thing that can stop the iPhone from completely dominating the smartphone market is Apple. Am i wrong in my assessment? does Android stand a chance against iPhone on other networks? We may soon find out as the At&t iPhone exclusivity is close to an end.

This guy who wrote this has no clue what he is talking about, he basis this on polls, no facts, market data shows the exact opposite is going to happen
#2 Rumors Rumors and more Rumors
His article are basically "what ifs" and are run only by rumors and far sided speculations. The Android OS is the way it is due to the freedom giving without the constricts of Nazi-Apple like policies. Android was also smart for reaching to all carriers around the world and allowing the phone manufacturers to customize the Android OS's skin to fit their smart phone product line. Though I would really love the iPhone to come to Verizon, I wouldn't get my hopes high until they roll out their 4g network.
#3 Faulty conclusions
Sure there will be a hit to Android device sales. There is pent-up demand in areas that don't have GSM and in the fast-growing pool of people who hate AT&T Wireless. If you that that is going to stop people wanting newer, faster, and higher-tech Android devices in the pipeline then you need some time away from St. Steve to think clearly again. A temporary drop in Android device sales is not "doom" or a sign of impending doom. It's a market coming to a new equilibrium.
While that is a no-brainer, as you said, so is the stupidity of black & white, bust or boom predictions.
#4 Apple & AT&T were the perfect match (at least for awhile)
Apple's first foray into the mobile sector has worked out just fine. One smartphone, one carrier. One carrier willing to subsidize the iPhone and letting Apple do it's thing without interference. I think things worked out for both companies. Now Apple has learned the ropes and it's time to branch out in the U.S. Just remember, Apple went to Verizon first, and Verizon didn't want to deal with Apple. Most likely because they couldn't believe the iPhone (an unknown quantity) would have turned into such a hit.
I'm certain a Verizon iPhone will put a huge damper on Android smartphone sales. It won't stop Android's growth but it should slow it plenty.
#5 Exactly
I'm not saying it will kill Android, but that i will stop its growth significantly.
#6 Ha, looking at this now..
I work at a Verizon & have worked here before iPhone hit. And I remember the day the iPhone launched, we opened 4 hours early and had TWO people come in and buy one. But the day the Droid X launched we were sold out of our 20 in stock within minutes. Android has far surpassed android and now it's blatantly obvious that Applet is trying to keep up. Everything about the new iPhone 5... Is already running smoothly on any android with 2.3 (Gingerbread) Gotta love the iPhone but Android is number one and theres no stopping it.
