Gingrich can’t be taken seriously after weird Moon base views and crazy ideas

In 1995, Time named him Man of the Year for his role in ending 40 years of majority control by the Democratic Party, but today the 68-year-old Newt Gingrich is being painted as an old fool.

Although Newt Gingrich was named as Time Magazine’s “Man of the Year” some 12 years ago in 1995 – when Gingrich was credited with ending 40 years of majority control by the Democratic Part – that’s not the case for this GOP front-runner for the White House in 2012 with TV and online media experts calling the 68-year-old Gingrich just “an old fool” after saying some “crazy things” he’d like to do as the next president. For instance, Jon Stewart said on “The Daily Show” Jan. 26 that Gingrich’s “moon mission idea” is so way out that Gingrich should never be seriously considered for public office again. “A moon base?! Your solution to being accused of grandiosity is ‘give me eight years and I have a f*cking moon base?!” Stewart asserted; while then saying: “Did you start with Death Star and got kind of reined in?”

World media thinks Newt Gingrich a joke

It’s not just Jon Stewart and other top political observers who think “old Newt has lost it.” A review of international media Jan. 27 found the consensus about a Gingrich presidency being “unrealistic for the world in 2012,” with Gingrich’s old ideas from 20 and 30 years ago when he entered politics as seeming “out-of-touch” with both America’s needs today in a time of recession and deep economic trouble that the millionaire Gingrich can’t relate to as a “common citizen,” stated overseas political observers.

In turn, Jon Stewart has stated – almost daily since Gingrich threw his hat in the ring to become president – that Gingrich is not suited for the presidency today because “he’s lost it.”

“You’re right, Mr. Moon Base, they won’t take Ron Paul seriously. And that’s why I’m going to make Ron Paul my first ambassador to Moonlandia! He’s out there! So what exactly are we supposed to do with this moon base?!” Stewart then followed up that statement about “crazy Newt” by showing a clip of Gingrich “jokingly suggesting he’d make the Moon a state.”

“I see what’s going on here, this isn’t about making new states,” added Stewart on his “Daily Show” TV show recently; while also saying that “Newt Gingrich did that global warming ad with Nancy Pelosi realizing that the Earth is very sick–and now he wants to leave it for a younger planet!”

Letterman also “plays with Newt & Romney”

It’s not only embarrassing to Gingrich, but the entire Republican party, said media experts, when the “Top Ten List” featured Gingrich being a “just a joke” for many Americans today.

The CBS TV talk show “Late Night with David Letterman,” featured presidential candidate Mitt Romney reading off the list on Letterman’s show that usually features an image of Gingrich having -- “what appears to be sex with a vending machine" -- stated a recent media review that Letterman may be going too far in "joking about old Newt." In turn, Letterman says professional politicians like Gingrich are fair game since "he wants to be our president."

Romney read the following on Letterman’s TV show last month:

10. Isn’t it time for a president who looks like a 1970s game show host?

9. What’s up gangstas, -- it’s the m-i-double-tizzle.

8. I have no proof, but I have a feeling Canada is planning something.

7. Actually, I’m only here to meet Tom Cruise.

6. Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!

5. My new cologne is now available at Macy’s. It’s "Mitt-stified."

4. I just used all my campaign money to buy a zoo with Matt Damon.

3. I can do a lot, but even I can’t fix the Indianapolis Colts.

2. Newt Gingrich, really?

1. It’s a hairpiece.

At the same time, Gingrich’s sly grin has been compared to fusing something “hideous” going on in his mind with a “cynical inner voice that questions everything as political.”
