
It looks like fans of the teen vampire movie Twilight: Breaking Dawn will be disappointed as the stars will not be presenting awards at his years Oscars ceremony.
However, fans of the acrobatic troupe known as Cirque du Soleil will get their chance to see them acrobats perform. The word has come down from the producers of the big show, the biggest awards night in Hollywood. To some this is a surprise as both Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have new movies coming out in 2012, plus the second part of the Breaking Dawn saga, and this would be a great way to promote those films.
According to Hollywood sources, however, it’s not looking like either of those two celebrities will be asked to present any awards at this year’s ceremony. Plus, the two stars have presented awards before at the ceremony, as well as other awards presentations.
What the producers of the show were able to confirm is that the acrobatic troupe known as Cirque du Soleil will be performing. The group has performed at the Academy Awards before, the last time being in 2002. According to sources close the the production of the ceremony, about 50 acrobatic performers from the group are going to perform. They will be performing a tribute to the movie theater experience.
For fans of Cirque who have seen their most recent show Iris which has been touring, this performance will be much different. According to sources close to the production, the performers have been practicing and rehearsing their performance since before Christmas.
Earlier this week it was announced that the Muppets will be at the ceremony as presenters. Their exact role at the ceremony has not been revealed.
Cirque du Soleil has become one of the most popular live performing acts in the country. The circus troupe is famous for its dazzling aerial and acrobatic stunts. They create elaborate performances highlighted with spectacular acrobatic feats and elaborate sets. There are a number of performances that tour the country and the world and a number of places, such as Las Vegas, have several permanent Cirque performances that have shows year around.
The 2012 Academy Award ceremony is scheduled for February 26, 2012. There have been a number of controversies and delays in preparation of the show.
