Downey and wife welcome baby Exton Elias

The man known, these days, for putting on an iron suit as a superhero, Robert Downey, Jr., is welcoming another child into the world with baby Exton Elias.

Robert Downey, Jr., who is currently riding high after his two successful appearances as detective Sherlock Holmes and the superhero Iron Man is now a proud father once again. It was announced that Downey and his wife Susan have welcomed their first child into the world. It’s a boy.

According to media reports, the couple have named their son Exton Elias Downey. The announcement came Tuesday morning. The bouncing baby boy came in weighing a healthy 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was 20 inches long.

According to representatives for the prior Academy Award nominee, the mother and baby are doing quite well. Everyone is listed as happy and healthy.

For Susan Downey, 38, this is her first child. It is not the first child for Robert, however. Downey, 46, has a son from a previous relationship. That son is 18-years-old and named Indio.

So far no photos of the new child have been released. No further information about the child has been released either.

For Downey, it is expected to be another big year. After years of battling drug abuse, the actor has been on a hot streak. The streak started with the huge success of the superhero movie Iron Man. That was followed by the success of Sherlock Holmes. After that came the successful Iron Man II and, must last December, he had another success with Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows. He will reprise his role as billionaire Tony Stark, who is the behind-the-mask identity of Iron Man, in the movie The Avengers, which is due out this spring.
