Tony Stewart wins Kobalt Tools 400 (RESULTS, STANDINGS)

After a win in Las Vegas today, Tony Stewart has only two NASCAR tracks left to conquer: Darlington and Kentucky.

Defending Sprint champion Tony Stewart captured his first Las Vegas victory today, fending off a charging Jimmie Johnson to take the checkered flag in the Kobalt Tools 400. Today’s win leaves Darlington and Kentucky as the only active tracks where Stewart has not had a victory.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. took off early, leading a lot of laps and thrilling Junior Nation, but, unfortunately, he couldn’t carry his momentum throughout the race, finishing 10th.

“Well, we were fast, our race car was really tight. I knew by the end of the race, especially with all the cautions we had at the end, that it was going to be a really, really tight race track," Junior said following the race, "and we needed to free the car up. And, I didn’t give Steve enough information throughout the day to really give him the idea of how tight the car was and the track sort of went past us, as far as our handling goes. I didn’t keep up with the track enough, and it cost us a handful of spots there at the end of the race … I should have gave Steve more of a heads up on what was happening.”
