One of the most famous competitive eaters in the world, Takeru Kobayashi, has once again put on his skills by eating a Philadelphia cheese steak in 24.3 seconds, believed to be a record time.

Kobayashi performed the eating stunt as an exhibition act during Wing Bowl 19, a competitive eating contest sponsored by Philadelphia sports radio station 610 WIP, in which contestants eat as many buffalo wings as possible in three rounds. Kobayashi, who was not competing in the event, ate the cheese steak in between the first and second rounds of the wing-eating competition.

Kobayashi attended this year's edition of the Wing Bowl, held annually on the Friday prior to the Super Bowl at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, to scout the scene and contemplate whether or not he would like to compete in a future Wing Bowl. No decision has been made yet on whether or not he will compete in the future.

Kobayashi was seen wearing an orange Philadelphia Flyers hockey jersey with the number one on the sleeve. He also wore one of his trademarks, a head band wrapped around his head and was surrounded by a group of "Wingettes," a collection of scantily clad women there to root on the competitive eaters and entertain the crowd that fills the arena starting at 5:30 a.m.

The record for eating one cheese steak has not been confirmed by HULIQ at this time, but Major League Eating reports that the record for eating cheese steaks is 19 six-inch Philly Cheese Steaks in ten minutes, accomplished by Joey Chestnut on May 1, 2010 at Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Takeru Kobayashi is most famous as a winner for his performance at the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, held annually on July 4 in New York. From 2001 through 2006 Kobayashi won the hot dog competition each year and held the record for most hot dogs eaten by consuming 53.5 hot dogs in 2004, a total he beat in 2006. Kobayashi finished second in the contest from 2007 through 2009 and did not compete in the 2010 event due to a contract dispute.

In addition to his achievements in the hot dog contests, Kobayashi also was champion of the Krystal Square Off, a hamburger eating competition in Chattanooga, Tennessee from 2004 through 2006 and once again in 2009 after finishing third in 2008. He missed the 2007 contest because of a wisdom tooth removal.
