The HGTV Dream Home 2013 Dining Room Tour
Today is Mardi Gras, a time when people have parties and entertain their friends. From Cajun cuisine served on the Bayou to Fat Tuesday cocktails, dining rooms around the country will be filled with cheer. With a mere 4 days left to enter the HGTV Dream Home 2013 giveaway, it is an ideal time to tour the gorgeous dining room in this zen country cottage.
The dining room is open to both the kitchen and the great room, making it an ideal place to appreciate the company of family and friends. The dining area features a braided rug with a trestle-style table surrounded by Parson-inspired chairs. The table is constructed of mindi wood with a rich grain. On top of the table are an earthenware bowl and glass hurricanes filled with beans. Shades of verdant greens and deep grays with other muted tones make the room a relaxing place to dine and unwind.
Throughout the HGTV Dream Home 2013 you will find square shapes. The theme continues in the dining room with iron cage lights. They are an eye-catching focal point in this important space. According to interior designer Linda Woodrum, “They make a really nice bold, strong statement.” They also help to illuminate the dining room area.
The room extends into the color palate of the kitchen and butler's pantry area. There are natural quartz counters with an appealing glass backsplash. The area also features resin sculptures in tube shaped and cat's paw designs to add texture. There is a convenient coffee serve in the far corner of the counter complete with porcelain mugs that look like pottery and hammered metal sugar bowls. The dark rattan serving tray makes it easy to bring coffee into other rooms in the HGTV Dream Home 2013.
The room also has a nice ambiance for romantic Valentine's Day dinner parties with classic pillar candles. The line between the dining room and living space is purposefully blurred to make the whole house perfect for entertaining. It is also convenient to have the dining area open to the kitchen for the purpose of serving food. Visitors can see from the entry hall to the back deck to appreciate the amazing marsh vistas.
In the spirit of contrasting textures, there is also a series of ceramic temple-style jars by the dining area. Panel paintings called “Rain” by James Linehan add fine art to the area. Woodrum said, “This is simple, clean and direct.” There are also plenty of windows to let in natural light. The dining area will comfortably seat eight people. Few people could resist the chance to entertain in the HGTV Dream Home 2013 but you have to be in it to win it.
