Despite differences with his record label, 50 Cent debuted his single “Outlaw” on Thursday night and talked to Funkmaster Flex about his new haircut and Tupac.
Despite grievances with Interscope Records, 50 Cent decided to debut his new single “Outlaw.” Funkmaster Flex of Hot 97 premiered the song on Thursday night. 50 Cent also discussed the dispute with his record label, the buzz about his new haircut and Tupac.
Yesterday 50 Cent took matters into his own hands by turning to Twitter to put the word out about Interscope. According to BoomBox, 50 Cent said, “Yeah, I sat through the meetings, I tried to go through the regular politics and red tape of how you supposed to do it, but that don't work for me.”
MTV reports 50 Cent was planning to drop a single from his new album back in April on Twitter, but it never happened. He decided to work with Interscope on the release but apparently gut frustrated, indicating, “So I had the record I was ready to launch, and we sat down and everybody talked.”
The rapper explained multiple parties were involved in the discussions including himself, Shady, Interscope and Aftermath. After talks, 50 Cent had to see Dr. Dre about confusion over a Twitter issue. 50 Cent had claimed Dr and Jimmy Iovine were mad because he developed his own brand of headphones in competition with Dre's Good Doctor's Beats.
The Dre issues were cleared up and the music professionals decided to get back to business. The duo wrote a song together called “The Psycho,” which is the next single for Dre. 50 Cent then intended to release his own single with the support of Interscope, looking to perform at the Hot 97 Summer Jam Concert in New Jersey. With no single, the performer did not appear at the June 5 show, saying, “Why would I go to Summer Jam to perform a bunch of feature songs? That's not for me.”
50 Cent also talked to Flex about Tupac Shakur, Jimmy “Henchmen” Rosemond and Dexter Isaac's confession, commenting, “I think whoever dude is saying he was involved, I don't know why he would say that right now. I think they're upset with Jimmy.”
Besides a new song, 50 Cent has a new hairstyle. His S-curl is causing a buzz on the Internet and the rapper revealed it was for role in an upcoming movie, “Freelancers.” 50 Cent admitted he would have changed his hair sooner if he had “known it would get that much coverage.”
Fans are still wondering if an album is in the future after the release of "Outlaw." On Thursday, 50 Cent tweeted it felt like his record company was moving in “slow motion.” He also said it was unlikely he would drop an album in 2011 unless his record label got on “the same page.” He does not blame Jimmy or Dre but “the guys that they pass the responsibilities onto.”
