Last night Hamptons magazine held its annual Memorial Day weekend celebration with cover star Brooke Shields. The event took place at the tony Southampton Social Club. Brooke is a down-to-earth mother of two daughters who likes staying in bed with them and feasting on frittatas made by her husband.
Hamptons Magazine Memorial Day Weekend Celebration with Brooke Shields
Last night the summer season kicked off in the Hamptons. Cover star Brooke Shields was the belle of the Hamptons magazine Memorial Day weekend celebration. The sensational soiree was held at the prestigious Southampton Social Club. Hamptons magazine is also celebrating its 35th anniversary as the leading luxury lifestyle publication of the Hamptons. Even the rain could not deter everyone from having a great time. Brooke Shields graces the cover of the 350-page summer kickoff issue of Hamptons magazine. The media clamored to take her photo and get a few minutes to speak with the beautiful “Army Wives” actress.
The Southampton Social Club served fresh shucked oysters by Oysters XO. The featured beverages of the evening were Russian Standard Vodka, Heineken and Heineken Light Beer. Three specialty drinks were made using Russian Standard Vodka. The Standard Mule included ginger beer. The Standard Rockette was refreshing with a hint of mint. The Standard Little Word included a dash of elderberry. As it rained outside, everyone had summer fun indoors at the Southampton Social Club as they talked about the people and places that make the Hamptons special. Taste-makers also previewed new models by Ferrari/Maserati of Long Island and the latest fashion collection by Minnie Rose.
Brooke Shields Enjoys Family Frittatas
The lovely Brooke Shields took a few moments to speak to me after graciously allowing the media to take photos. She clearly enjoys her work and treasures her time with family. She finds joy in the simple moments in life. Brooke told me her husband, Chris Henchy, loves to cook. One of her favorite times is when she stays in bed with her two daughters and her husband makes frittatas for everyone. Her thriving career keeps her busy but she manages to take time out to be with family and share something tasty.
Having a simple meal together is a way we can all spend some relaxed time with family, just like Brooke Shields. The frittata originated in Italy. It is an egg dish that is rather like a quiche or omelette. People add ingredients such as vegetables, cheese and meats as well as pasta and herbs. The eggs are beaten well and the mixture is cooked over a low heat. On an episode of ABC's “The Chew,” Michael Symon showed viewers how to make a tasty frittata by frying then broiling the eggs. Sometimes it is baked after frying but Michael's method gives it a crust on the bottom and top. His recipe included greens, Parmesan cheese and prosciutto. Below is a video of Michael Symon preparing his prosciutto tomato frittata. With summer vacation around the corner, Brooke's idea of staying in bed and having a family frittata sounds like a great plan. Below are clips from “The Chew” when Brooke Shields was on the show three weeks ago to whip up a rich dish with Mario Batali.
