The famed celebrity chef known as “Mr. Chocolate” appears on ABC's “The Chew” today to share decadent dessert ideas for less. With budget concerns in mind, the crew is also sharing ways to make a luxurious meal on a budget. From the main course to the dessert, fans will get some great ideas they can afford. They have dubbed the day Five Dollar Decadence, with a great recipe for Beef Wellington that costs just $3.44 per serving. Jacques Torres is an esteemed member of the FCI community, leading the Pastry Arts. He has won many awards for his amazing pastry creations including the James Beard Pastry Chef of the Year, Chartreuse Pastry Chef of the Year and the Chefs of America Pastry Chef of the Year. Clearly Jacques knows a lot about desserts. In 2003, he was inducted into the Who's Who of Food and Beverage in America and he is a member of the Academie Culinaire in France.
Besides all of these awards, Jacques Torres is the author of two Dessert Circus Books. He is the host of the television show “Chocolate with Jacques Torres” on the Food Network. In 2004, he opened his famed chocolate factory and then Jacques Torres Chocolate Factory in New York City. As further evidence of his respected skill, Torres prepared an expensive couples fundraising dinner for U.S. President Barack Obama for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee at the St. Regis hotel in Manhattan. He worked with prestigious chefs to create this dinner including Andre Soltner and Alain Sailhac. Fans can get a tasty slice of his culinary expertise on “The Chew” today.
