As everyone celebrates America on Columbus Day, the crew on ABC's “The Chew” is serving some sensational Italian cuisine in honor of Christopher Columbus. The food and fun is sure to be irresistible. It gets even better when singer and songwriter Jewel visits the show to cook something special with Mario Batali.
Columbus Day on “The Chew”
Today is Columbus Day, a time when people think of the discovery of America and Italian heritage. Christopher Columbus crossed the Atlantic Ocean and landed on unexpected territory in 1492. Across America, children are off from school and people are celebrating their Italian heritage on Columbus Day. ABC's “The Chew” crew is offering some tantalizing Italian recipes to serve in honor of this special holiday. It is more than just a day off when people cook up some of these yummy dishes and think about American history.
Several fans took to “The Chew” Facebook page to express their love and appreciation for Italian food. One commented, “The economy has made me a better explorer into cooking! We make our own marinara and pizza. Teaching and learning right alonside my Grandkids!” Another fan enthusiastically stated, “Where do I start? Luv all Italian dishes.” Some fans suggested dishes such as seafood or vegan Italian cuisine.
Fans are looking forward to discovering a few new Italian dishes for Columbus Day. Pasta, pizza and sausage are some of the favorites mentioned. Other possibilities include meatballs and special sauces made with tomatoes and cheese. The possibilities are mouthwatering when fans consider the various Italian dishes that could be cooked up on “The Chew.” With Mario Batali on the scene, they are sure to be authentic and tasty.
Jewel on “The Chew”
“The Chew” invites a variety of fantastic celebrity guests to cook in the kitchen. The season kicked off with Katie Couric and Elmo visited to cook kid-friendly cuisine with Mario. Today Jewel is visiting the show to dish with the crew and make something delicious with Mario in honor of Columbus Day.
Formally known as Jewel Kilcher, this lovely lady is a singer, songwriter, poet, guitarist, actress and producer. Jewel received four Grammy Award nominations. She has sold over 27 million albums around the world. In 1995, her debut album “Pieces of You” was released. It become one of the best-selling albums of all time and went platinum 15 times.
Jewel is also involved in an array of charitable causes. She has been homeless herself before her career took off. Besides her stellar career and charitable activities. Jewel is married to pro rodeo cowboy Ty Murray and they have a son named Kase Townes Murray who was born in 2011. She also released her second children's album, The Merry Goes Round, in August 2011 under the Fisher-Price Label.
