NYC is one of the most famous cities in the world but living space is limited. Recently HGTV star Genevieve Gorder had an opportunity to purchase the apartment next door to the one she has lived in for over a decade. Gen shared her renovation project with HGTV magazine to help others come up with innovative ways to maximize their living areas.
Basics About Genevieve Gorder
Design Star judge Genevieve Gorder graduated from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. She also owns her own design business, gg Studios. Her work as an HGTV star, designer, entrepreneur and author is greatly respected by fans and industry professionals. In July, fans had a rare opportunity to hangout with Genevieve online and ask their own design questions. One of Gen's latest projects was to update her NYC apartment for herself and her daughter.
Following the Renovation on HGTV
When Gen embarked on the renovation project, HGTV decided to feature it on the show "Genevieve's Renovation." It took the HGTV star 18 months to completely transform the NYC home. Her journey was shared with HGTV viewers to help them see how these renovation projects can be handled. Since the home was over 160 years old, there were many surprises along the way including uneven floors and antiquated wiring.
A Fabulous Family Home
It took work, time and creativity for Gen to recreate the ultimate NYC home for herself and daughter Bebelle. The house has three bedrooms and three bathrooms on two floors. It features subdued colors and an array of treasures Genevieve has collected from around the world. It is a haven for this hard-working mom and her 6-year-old daughter.
