In what might seem to be an unlikely coupling, Rosie O'Donnell set up former Playmate Jenny McCarthy and Christian football player Tim Tebow at the Super Bowl. The hookup happened only a week after rumors Kim Kardashian had a crush on Tebow but he didn't feel the same way.
When Jenny McCarthy expressed admiration for Tim Tebow to Rosie O'Donnell, the outspoken talk show host did something about it. O'Donnell set out to set up this rather unlikely couple at the Super Bowl.
Jenny McCarthy is 39 and Tim Tebow is 24. Fans are buzzing about whether this possible duo will become the new cougar and cub in town now that Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher split.
While age rarely matters these days, the couple seem to have other major differences. Jenny McCarthy is a former Playboy Playmate. Tim Tebow is publicly Christian and known for writing biblical phrases in his eye black in college. McCarthy was a cheerleader in high school and Tebow was home-schooled (though this might explain her enthusiasm for the football player). McCarthy is a mom and Tebow has no children yet.
Despite these facts, Off the Bench at NBC Sports reports McCarthy told O'Donnell during an interview that she was newly single and had a crush on Tebow. The Sirius XM radio interview show took place at the Super Bowl. The rumors Tebow would not do the show because of O'Donnell's gay lifestyle were untrue but McCarthy really did try to hook up with the hunky football player.
O'Donnell took McCarthy by the arm and walked her over to the quarterback for the Denver Broncos. The talk show host said to Tebow, “Hi, I'm Rosie O'Donnell and this is Jenny McCarthy and she's single. I think you two would be perfect together. Now exchange telephone numbers.”
O'Donnell's work was done and she walked away. McCarthy and Tim exchanged digits and chatted before handlers for the football player took him away to finish his scheduled radio tour.
Clearly pleased, McCarthy returned to O'Donnell to thank her for the set up, saying, “We'll see what happens now Ro!”
Meanwhile, rumors flew last week about Kim Kardashian setting her sights on Tebow. The Hollywood Gossip discussed reports a source claimed Kardashian had a crush on Tebow and found him “handsome” with “really strong values.” Apparently her PR team realizes “Kim needs to rehab her image.”
However, another source indicated Tebow was flattered but “not interested.” The contrast between Kardashian and Tebow is even more vast than the one with Jenny McCarthy. While Kim Kardashian made a sex tape, Tebow's possible sex life is kept quiet. After the rumors broke, TMZ reported Kardashian claimed she would never date another football player again after Reggie Bush.
While nothing seems to have happened between McCarthy and Tebow yet, cougar and cub relationships have become increasingly popular.
HULIQ spoke to Claudia Opdenkelder, founder of Cougar Life, a website dedicated to the lifestyle. Originator of the word “cub,” Opdenkelder said, ““A cougar is a strong, independent mature woman who is experienced and knows what she wants, knows how to get it and never really relied for a man to take care of her...and always had a desire for younger men.”
McCarthy dated Jim Carrey for five years. In 2011, McCarthy dated sports agent Paul Krepelka but they broke up last year. Perhaps McCarthy is setting her sights on a younger man these days. After the exchange of telephone numbers at the Super Bowl, McCarthy, Tebow and O'Donnell met later for Chris Russo's radio show.
