Mayim Bialik on “The Chew”
This summer, ABC's “The Chew” has dished with a variety of celebrity guests including Jon Bon Jovi and Piper Perabo. Today Mayim Bialik of “The Big Bang Theory” will join Carla in the kitchen. This attractive duo will make some sweets delights for viewers to try at home. Carla recently shared her recipe for homemade ice cream so this promises to be a real treat.
Everyone remembers Mayim Bialik for her portrayal of the young Bette Midler in the renowned 1989 movie, “Beaches.” Mayim also starred in the popular sitcom “Blossom” from 1990 to 1994. Now Mayim appears as Amy Farrah Fowler on “The Big Bang Theory.” Today fans will have the opportunity to check out her culinary skills on “The Chew.” One fan commented, "Hmm I remember when Clinton gave her a makeover on 'What Not to Wear!' Should be cool seeing her on 'The Chew.'"
Mayim is also married to her college sweetheart and the mother to two young children, so her plate is certainly full. She is the spokesperson for the Holistic Moms Network so she is sure to be an advocate for healthy recipes. Not just another pretty face, Mayim holds a Ph.D in Neuroscience and just wrote a book published by Simon & Schuster entitled, “Beyond The Sling,” with the paperback version coming out this month.
“Beyond The Sling” is an educated look at attachment parenting. Mayim read books, talked to parents and began to question conventional wisdom. She ultimately felt the natural, child-led approach to parenting made sense both intellectually and emotionally. Based on her experience in science and parenting, Mayim wrote a book covering tenets of attachment parenting such as breastfeeding, baby wearing, co-sleeping and more. She is sure to be an interesting guest on “The Chew" as she dishes with Carla.
Today the show is all about girl talk with the ladies and Clinton. Daphne Oz read what the audience considers girl talk. Topics included babies, food, farts, shoes and women they don't like. The girl talk promises to be almost as good as the cuisine. Clinton is also making his yummy strawberry tart with the ladies while they dish. Daphne also mentioned how ladies also talk about guys and their spouses. She also discussed possible deal breakers with a spouse. Kissing someone else was definitely a deal breaker for the women in the audience. Snoring was not a deal breaker but Carla thought it was. Not liking your spouse's friends was not a deal breaker. However, it was a deal breaker for a first date to ask to split the check. But Carla wants to keep her power and split the check. What do you think?
Going For Strawberries on “The Chew”
Today Clinton will also share a recipe for yummy strawberry tarts. Summer is the perfect time to whip up recipes with fresh berries. Healthy and tasty, berries are fun to pick and delicious to nibble on. Carla just shared a tantalizing dessert recipe using grilled strawberries. Carla's Grilled Strawberries with Lemon Sorbet and Balsamic Vinegar is a tough recipe to top. It costs only $1.43 per serving to make at home. It combines grilled strawberries with balsamic vinegar over tangy lemon sorbet, an absolute taste sensation. One Facebook fan commented, “Looks and sounds amazing!” Another felt, “I would eat this anytime...looks yummy...love 'The Chew.'”
Clinton's strawberry tart is only 88 cents per serving. Clinton and the girls all dove in. They also compared themselves to "The Golden Girls" and showed a clip from the show. Daphne is wearing her Christian Dior housecoat. They are also making a sweet potato praline cheesecake with the lovely Chef Jamika, who is part of today's awesome foursome. The cheesecake is absolutely decadent. Clinton is also doing men's underpants makeovers today, just for the girls.
