Fabulously fashionable Victoria Beckham is taking on New York Fashion Week, designing celebrity dresses for the Oscars and mothering 7-month-old Harper. The dedicated wife of David Beckham is doing it all but not without feeling a bit of stress.
Victoria Beckham, one of the Spice Girls all grown-up, is taking on major responsibilities. As a fashion designer, she is showcasing her collection at New York Fashion Week. Victoria is also working overtime designing dresses for A-list celebrities for the Oscars. Meanwhile, she is still fulfilling her duties as wife to David Beckham and mother to 7-month-old Harper and their other three children. A petite powerhouse, Beckham did momentary feel everything start to take its toll.
Victoria Beckham at New York Fashion Week
Victoria Beckham arrived at JFK airport in NYC with Harper last week for New York Fashion Week. Looking like a little Posh, 7-month-old daughter Harper was decked out in a pretty coat. The Mirror reports Harper vomited a bit on her coat, perhaps caused by the stress of the plane ride and anticipation of New York Fashion Week. Mama Beckham handled it with ease, wiping up the little girl and moving forward.
According to CBS News, Victoria Beckham introduced a no-nonsense collection at New York Fashion Week on Sunday. Some of the looks had a schoolgirl feeling with flared-hem skirts and collars as shown in the photo above. Other dresses were sophisticated with python shirt-style collars and epaulets. Sheaths fit like a second skin with none of the looser shapes Beckham introduced in past seasons.
The fantastic fashionista said at the New York Public Library, “The idea of how the body can connect to the clothes through their construction and detail fascinates me.” Beckham also hope the designs would forge an “emotional attachment between the garment and wearer.” The designer originally debuted her collection at New York Fashion Week just over three years ago.
Victoria Beckham as a Celebrity Designer for the Oscars and More
Beyond New York Fashion Week, the Daily Mail revealed celebrities are clamoring for Victoria Beckham to dress them for the Oscars, the biggest night in Hollywood. Reportedly Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow and Cherlize Theron are looking to slip into one of Beckham's styles for the event which has the designer working “day and night” to meet celebrity demands.
According to a rep for Beckham, “We do have requests in from stylists for the Oscars, but as our team is so small we don't have the opportunity to custom make dresses like the bigger fashion houses.” It is a waiting game to see if the dresses will be worn on the night of the Oscars on Sunday, February 26 in Los Angeles.
Earlier this week, Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams turned up in a dress by Victoria Beckham at the Oscar nominees' luncheon. The star of “My Week with Marilyn” also wore a Beckham design in January to a BAFTA event. Former Spice Girls band members also show support by wearing Beckham's designs. Other stars spotted wearing Beckham designs include Drew Barrymore, Mary J Blige, Elle Macpherson and Blake Lively.
Helen Terzyan of Hollywood's Elegant Mart said, “Two of the major events defining fashion for the entire industry are New York Fashion Week and the Oscars. Everyone closely watches these events to see what they should be wearing.”
The Personal Side of Victoria Beckham and Doing it All
While Victoria Beckham is successfully doing it all, Contact Music revealed she has people to help her but there is “a lot that only I can do,” such as finding new schools for her children. Right before Christmas, Beckham started to feel the stress and “I wasn't actually sure if I could cope.”
At the time Beckham was working in London and the day she finished work she went to bed and woke up in the middle of the night with a throat infection and chest infection. Beckham indicated she rarely gets sick and could not even remember the last time she had a cold. She said, “I guess I was really feeling the pressure.”
Despite that brief moment, Victoria Beckham is successfully juggling her career as a designer, being a stunning example of fashion and a great mother and wife. She has certainly recreated herself as a mature businesswoman and domestic diva since her days as Posh Spice.
