PM meets business leaders for climate talks

Tony Blair has hosted a meeting at Downing Street with some of the UK's biggest businesses to discuss ways of persuading the public to join the battle against climate change.

Mr Blair said the public had "moved on very far indeed" in their attitude towards climate change.

He added: "The idea of leading businesses coming in and offering them ways they can make sure they are behaving in a way that is responsible to the environment is very, very important."

Environment Secretary David Miliband was also present at the breakfast meeting along with representatives from leading companies inlcuding DIY chain B&Q, Tesco, Marks and Spencer, BSkyB, HSBC bank and the Starbucks coffee shop chain.

The partnership is being co-ordinated by independent campaigning organisation the Climate Group
