A Master Of Harmony

Stan Tracey, pianist, composer, arranger and band leader, is an outstanding figure in the British jazz world and we are proud to welcome him back to the Queen's Theatre stage when he performs with his seven piece band on Friday 16th February at 7.45pm.

Stan's distinguished career has spanned five decades of consistently flourishing creativity. He has been a highly influential and stimulating musical voice, not only to his peers, but to each successive generation of musicians with whom he has worked.

The Stan Tracey Orchestra was formed in the 60's at the request of the BBC for a Jazz Club broadcast. Since then Stan has written specially commissioned works for this line up including Alice in Jazzland, Seven Ages of Man, Genesis and more recently Continental Shift. Some of the original line up remains to this day but Stan is always introducing younger players to the band.

The Orchestra features - Guy Barker, Mark Nightingale, Nigel Hitchcock, Simon Allen and Mornington Lockett and on Rhythm Section - Clark Tracey (Drums) and Andrew Cleyndert (Double Bass). -- www.northdevontheatres.org.uk
