Nissan Production, Sales and Export Results for July 2008

Nissan Motor Co.,Ltd., today announced its production, sales and export results for July 2008.

1. Production

Nissan's global production in July increased 26.8% year-on-year to 315,975 units, marking a record high for the month of July.

Export models Rogue, Teana and Tiida boosted production in Japan to 129,103 units, exceeding the previous year by 50.2%.

Production outside of Japan increased 14.4% year-on-year to 186,872 units marking a record high for the month of July.

In the U.S., production of the Maxima introduced at the end of June and Altima contributed to a production increase of 6.0% year-on-year to 44,942 units.

In Mexico, production increased 12.5% year-on-year to 33,179 units.

In the U.K., production increased 13.4% year-on-year to 35,516 units.

In Spain, production decreased 3.4% year-on-year to 19,846 units.

Production in the General Overseas Markets* (GOM) grew 35.1% year-on-year to 53,389 units mainly due to demand for Teana (introduced in June) and Qashqai (introduced in March) in China, and X-TRAIL (introduced in July) in Indonesia.

2. Sales

In Japan, Nissan's vehicle registrations in July increased 5.9% year-on-year to 50,091 units, boosted by the all-new Teana and X-TRAIL. Nissan's share of the domestic market registrations in July was up 0.1 percentage points year-on-year to 16.6%.

Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were down 2.4% from the previous year to 11,739 units.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 61,830 units in Japan, up 4.2% year-on-year. Market share was up 0.1 percentage points year-on-year to 13.6%.

Global sales increased 11.5% to 331,058 units compared to the previous year.

Nissan sales in the U.S. increased 8.5% year-on-year to 95,319 units due to strong sales of Rogue and Versa (Tiida in Japan).

In Europe, sales increased 10.5% year-on-year to 53,162 units following increased sales of Qashqai, X-TRAIL and Tiida.

Sales in the GOM regions were up 21.0% from the previous year to 95,523 units.

3. Exports from Japan

Nissan's exports in July increased 84.2% to 83,429 units compared to the previous year.

Exports to North America rose 119.6% year-on-year to 31,271 units resulting from increased demand for Rogue and Murano.

Exports to Europe grew 87.1% year-on-year to 14,759 units on the back of X-TRAIL and Teana's strong performances in Russia.

Exports to other regions rose 61.5% year-on-year to 37,399 units.-Nissan
