SonicWALL, Inc., a leading provider of network, Web, email security and backup and recovery solutions, today announced that Crabtree & Evelyn, an international manufacturer and retailer of personal care products, has implemented SonicWALL's integrated and managed security solutions to secure its retail stores in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. SonicWALL was selected for its deep packet inspection technology and ease-of- use which not only provides the company the protection it needs but enhances overall staff productivity.
Founded in 1973, Crabtree & Evelyn has evolved from a small, family-run business to an international company. With 220 stores in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, the company is engaged on a constant mission to upgrade its network to improve productivity and reduce costs. SonicWALL has worked with Crabtree & Evelyn to provide secure connectivity between each store and corporate headquarters for the exchange of point-of-sale (POS) and inventory data.
Recently, the company enhanced its network with SonicWALL TZ 170 SP devices to provide continuous uptime for VPN connectivity, with automated dial-up failover in all Crabtree & Evelyn stores. Four SonicWALL PRO Series appliances serve as the hub of the international security network. There are two PROs in the U.S. and two in the U.K. The new network is managed by the Crabtree & Evelyn global IT team using SonicWALL's Global Management System (GMS).
"We have a lean IT team to manage our systems worldwide," said Bob Lincoln, IT manager for Crabtree & Evelyn. "SonicWALL makes securing and managing the Internet network easy. We now have real-time data exchange and failover for the processing of all POS credit card transactions -- even if we lose the broadband network. The one of the great things about SonicWALL is that the system is self-monitoring and turns itself back on when the broadband connection is restored-we don't have to do that manually."
With the SonicWALL-based Internet network offering Crabtree & Evelyn has been able to utilize the system for improved preferred customer programs. All the stores now have real-time access to the retailer's preferred customer list, so when customers travel, the associates can access their information quickly.
"The secure, centrally managed network means our IT team resolves most issues remotely, and allows our store employees to focus on the customer, not on technology concerns. Overall, we're able to be more productive in the back- office and in our retail stores with SonicWALL," added Lincoln - SonicWALL.
