Donatello To Giambologna: Italian Renaissance Sculpture

This exhibition includes nearly 100 Italian sculptures from the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston--many of which have never been on view to the public. This survey showcases masters of the period as well as other lesser known artists in a variety of mediums including marble, bronze, silver, terra-cotta and wood.

The exhibition includes a work that has not been on view in fifty years that was recently attributed to Giovanni Francesco Rustica, a collaborator of Leonardo da Vinci. Donatello to Giambologna also reveals the work that MFA conservators have been undertaking on the collection, as objects will be shown in various stages of restoration.

The media sponsor for this exhibition is Boston's Classical station 99.5 WCRB. Support is provided in part by The Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation and the National Italian American Foundation.

The picture shows Madonna of the Clouds, about 1425-35, the author is Donatello.

The exhibition runs through July 8, 2007 at Torf Gallery. -- www.mfa.org
