Sound Energy Sets Distributions For March

SOUND Energy Trust today announced it will pay a distribution of $0.055 per Trust unit on March 15, 2007 to Unitholders of record on February 28. The ex-distribution date is February 26.

Following a 21-month period of consistent monthly distributions to Unitholders of $0.10 per Trust unit, the Board of Directors has determined that a decrease in distributions to Unitholders at this time is prudent in light of the significant drop in commodity prices. The Board of Directors reviews the Trust's distribution policy monthly and sets the rate based on commodity prices, financial market conditions, internal capital investment opportunities and target payout ratios.

The decision to lower monthly distributions to Unitholders at this time was made to ensure SOUND is well positioned to focus on further development of its asset base that includes approximately 460,000 acres of net undeveloped land and a multi-year inventory of identified drilling opportunities. This strategy will return the Trust to a low payout ratio of 51% and provide financial stability for the coming years, resulting in a sustainable entity over the longer term.

Guidance

The Trust is pleased to provide guidance for 2007 as set out in the table below. The following information is based on commodity price assumptions of US$55.00/bbl West Texas Intermediate crude and $7.00/Mcf AECO natural gas. The guidance incorporates the revised distribution level and lower commodity price assumptions than originally budgeted. The Trust expects that the decrease in distributions, combined with an updated hedging program, will result in a more sustainable distribution level and added protection of SOUND's 2007 capital program. -- www.cnxmarketlink.com
