Jewish Museum Presents World-Class Symposium About Israel

Nearly sixty years ago when the United Nations approved the partition plan leading to the creation of the State of Israel, the horrors of the Holocaust were still fresh in people's minds. Now, in 2007, as Israel copes with the aftermath of the latest in an ongoing series of wars with its Arab neighbors, and its very existence is threatened, our group of diverse speakers discusses Israel's relevance today.

Acclaimed journalist Jeffrey Goldberg will moderate this monumental event on March 11 at 1 p.m. at the Museum of Jewish Heritage-A Living Memorial to the Holocaust.

Jeffrey Goldberg is the Washington correspondent for The New Yorker. For ten years he was a Middle East correspondent for The New Yorker and for The New York Times Magazine. A winner of the National Magazine Award for Reporting, he is also a former columnist for The Jerusalem Post and the Forward. His recent book, Prisoners: A Muslim and A Jew Across the Middle East Divide, has been called one of the best books of the year by The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times Book Review, and The Washington Post, among others.

Panelists will include: Naomi Chazan, a professor of political science at Hebrew University; David Makovsky, senior fellow and director of The Washington Institute's Project on the Middle East Peace Process; and Ruth R. Wisse, professor of Yiddish and comparative literature at Harvard University.

The Rosenblatt Forum is made possible through a generous gift by Lief Rosenblatt, and endows a wide range of public programs.
