Computer Sciences Corporation announced today that it has renewed its information technology (IT) services agreement with Vital Forsikring, Norway's largest privately owned life and pension insurance company. CSC estimates the value of the contract, which has a five-year base period and three one-year options, to be approximately $80 million (500 million NOK), if all options are exercised.
Vital Forsikring, which is owned by Norway's largest financial group, DnB NOR, serves approximately one million customers. Under the new agreement, CSC will continue to support, manage and operate Vital's critical business systems. The new contract continues work that originally began in 1990 and transitioned to CSC through the company's acquisition of Mynd in 2000.
"As we focus on new and improved technologies and adjust for international expansion, it's important to have an innovative and international IT teammate," said BÃ¥rd Benum, Vital managing director. "That's why we chose CSC."Â
"Our longstanding relationship with Vital is testament to the sound business results we have delivered over the years,"Â said CSC President and Chief Operating Officer Mike Laphen. "We are pleased to extend our agreement and will continue to leverage our IT expertise and insurance industry experience in support of Vital's business goals"Â - CSC.
