Take On A New Challenge At River & Rowing Museum

There is no doubt that Henley, set on an idyllic stretch of the River Thames, is an inspiring place to be and situated in a privileged position at the water's edge, the River & Rowing Museum provides the perfect setting for inspiration and creativity. So why not take on a new challenge with one of the Museum's aMUSE aMUSE courses aimed at stimulating your imagination and allowing you to explore your artistic potential

Activities include:

Living Willow Chair on Saturday 3 March at 10.30am - 4pm, tickets are £36 (£30 members) + £15 materials.

Make your own living willow chair that you can take home and plant in your garden. Enjoy your summer sitting under the shady canopy of the leafy willow watching your garden grow. This could be the first of many of your own living sculptures in your garden.

The History of Bushell's Photographic: Henley's Photographers on Saturday 31 March at 11am for 11.30am, tickets are £5 (£3 members)

George Bushell, the grandson of the founding Bushell, will talk about the history of his family's business Bushell's Photographic and how they have documented life in Henley for nearly 100 years. The lecture will be illustrated with photographs of Henley originally taken on glass plate negatives.

Contemporary Textiles on Saturday 21 April at 10.30am - 4pm, tickets are £36 (£30 members)

Contemporary Textiles - from experimental painting and printing on fabric, to mixed media textile sandwiches. 'A lovely approach to pattern and surface decoration with the emphasis on colour, surface and composition' best describes Anne-Marie Cadman's work. This will be an action packed workshop with easily achievable textile techniques.

The Art of Digital Photography on Saturday 21 April at 11am for 11.30am, tickets are £5 (£3 members)

Graham Diprose has taken the largest digital image in the world from a single lens position and has spent the last 7 years photographing the Thames using cutting edge digital technology.

A lecturer in photography at the London College of Communication, Graham will show some of his latest experiments, including 3D photographs and let you into some of the 'tricks of the trade'. He will demonstrate how to make the best of any digital camera, whether it costs £50 or £5000, make suggestions for more accurate printing and talk about how best to store images. -- www.rrm.co.uk
