2011 American Country Awards: Jason Aldean Leads Winners List

Country rocker Jason Aldean took home 6 of the trademark Telecaster awards, including Album and Artist of the Year, at the 2nd Annual American Country Awards Dec. 5 in Las Vegas. He wasn't the only winner on the night, but he won all the major awards except Male Artist o the Year.

Jason Aldean was up all night in Las Vegas, constantly having to get up onto the stage to accept an award. In fact, he won six before the night was through. And that wasn't all. He performed as well. But it is likely he didn't mind at all. The guitar awards given to the winners at the American Country Awards are voted on by the public.

Aldean even got misty-eyed when he accepted the Artist of the Year award. He also won Album of the Year (My Kinda Party), Male Single of the Year ("My Kinda Party"), Single of the Year: Vocal Collaboration ("Don't You Wanna Stay" ft. Kelly Clarkson), Music Video: Duo, Group, or Collaboration ("Don't You Wanna Stay" ft. Kelly Clarkson), and Touring Headline Act of the Year.

The only major award he failed to capture was Male Artist of the Year. That one went to Brad Paisley.

The awards ceremony was presented live on Fox Television. Trace Adkins reprised his role as host, this year sharing the emcee duties with Kristin Chenoweth.

Chris Young won for Breatkthrough Artist (his single "Voices" also won for Single of the Year) and "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery took home the New Artist award.

Fellow "American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood was the second biggest winner of the night (she was the biggest last year, winning six awards at the inaugural event). She won two awards for "Mama's Song" (Single of the Year: Female, Video of the Year: Female), and Female Artist of the Year.

Thompson Square was right alongside Underwood, though, pulling in three American Country Awards trophies. The duo won all three of their awards for their hit single "Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not" (Single of the Year: Duo or Group, Music Video: New Artist, and Single of the Year: New Artist).

Toby Keith received a special award for Artist of the Decade. He also performed his hit "Red Solo Cup."

The two remaining Telecasters went to Blake Shelton for his song, "Who Are You When I'm Not Looking" (Video of the Year: Male and Music Video of the Year).

With six awards going to finalists from "American Idol," there is little doubt that the execs at Fox Television are ecstatic that the network invented the ceremony.
