The Writers Association in Iran has issued a statement protesting state censorship and what it calls "the elimination of literary works" by the government, Radio Farda reported.
The group claims increased bans on books, newspapers, and other publications threaten to usher in a social and cultural crisis.
It also says Iranian authorities have blocked access to news websites and detained and harassed bloggers.
