Vishay Expands IHLP Family of Low-Profile, High-Current Inductors

New Inductors Offer Low 4.0-mm Profile With Saturation Currents up to 46 A and 90 A, and Inductance Values Down to 0.19 µH

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today announced the release of the new IHLP-4040DZ-01 and IHLP-4040DZ-11 low-profile, high-current inductors, which feature high maximum frequencies and low inductance values.

The IHLP-4040DZ-11 offers a maximum frequency of 1.0 MHz, while the IHLP-4040DZ-01 features a maximum frequency of 5.0 MHz. Both devices offer inductance values down to 0.19 µH.

Offering very low DCR and the highest inductance for their respective package sizes, the new IHLP inductors serve as high-performing, space- and power-saving solutions for voltage regulator module (VRM) and dc-to-dc converter applications in end products including next-generation mobile devices; notebooks, desktop computers, servers, graphic cards, portable gaming devices, personal navigation systems, personal multimedia devices, and automotive systems; low-profile, high-current power supplies and point of load (POL) converters; distributed power systems; and field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs).

For applications requiring a frequency range up to 1 MHz, the IHLP-4040DZ-11 offers an inductance range from 0.19 µH up to 100 µH, a saturation current range from 2.25 A up to 46 A, typical DCR from 0.70 mΩ to 249.0 mΩ, and maximum DCR from 0.80 mΩ to 270.0 mΩ. For applications requiring a frequency range up to 5 MHz, the IHLP-4040DZ-01 offers an inductance range from 0.19 µH up to 10 µH, a saturation current range from 12.0 A up to 90 A, typical DCR from 0.875 mΩ to 33.20 mΩ, and maximum DCR from 0.95 mΩ to 36.5 mΩ.

With compact dimensions of 0.405 in. by 0.453 in. [10.3 mm by 11.5 mm] and a very low height profile of 0.158 in. [4.0 mm], the IHLP-4040DZ-01 and IHLP-4040DZ-11 inductors occupy the standard 4040 footprint shared by lower-profile IHLP devices while providing higher rated current and lower DCR values.

The new inductors handle high transient current spikes without hard saturation. Packaged in an RoHS-compliant, 100 % lead (Pb)-free shielded, composite construction that reduces buzz noise to ultra-low levels, the new devices are specified for an operating temperature range of 55 °C to +125 °C with high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, mechanical shock, and vibration - Vishay.
