Catherine Zeta-Jones is seeking rehab treatment for bipolar disease.
This news comes after the BBC announced the actress had withdrawn from a film festival in her hometown of Swansea, set to begin in Wales on May 5.
Instead, Zeta-Jones is spending some time getting well, a fact supported by her publicist's statement which said that the "stress of the past year"--one in which her husband, Michael Douglas was dealing with throat cancer--is a contributing factor.
After a brief stay for bipolar II disorder, Catherine Zeta-Jones is "feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week this week on her two upcoming films," reports her spokesperson.
The 41-year-old artist has been through quite a bit of trauma of late. Not only has Zeta-Jones had to deal with her husband's ill health but also a court case from his ex-wife regarding the profits from the Wall Street sequel as well as last year's drug-related sentence of her stepson, Cameron Douglas.
Hopefully, this stint in treatment will rejuvenate as Catherine Zeta-Jones goes to rehab for bipolar disease.
Catherine Zeta-Jones, while being treated for bipolar II (formerly known as manic-depressive disorder), was reportedly an inpatient at the notable Silver Hills Hospital in Connecticut. This lauded facility has had its share of famous patients over the years, including Carey Fisher, Tatum O'Neal and MacKenzie Phillips.
