Clay Aiken - A Plastic Surgery Participant?

Clay Aiken, who had the benefit of a very good stylist back in the day, has often looked rumpled since the singer first showed up on the scene for the second season of American Idol.

But new photos of the 33-year-old, who is now competing on Celebrity Apprentice 2012, has his public wondering: Did this Southern boy get plastic surgery?

And this isn't necessarily a flattering question even though it is on the minds of bloggers and social media types around the Net. And the rumor is nothing new, just reoccurring. In fact, this suspicion has been around for a long time, having died down in recent years.

So why resurrect such personal viewpoints about this private personality again just now?

Most pundits are referencing the Celebrity Apprentice cast photo as proof--or not.

Always having brought a baby face, Clay Aiken seems to have somehow turned into a person who appears to be at least a decade older than his actual years, or at least that's the public outcry. Wearing a business suit instead of any hipster attire, Aiken sits behind a desk looking more corporate than artsy. But that's to be expected since the Donald Trump TV show in which this crooner will appear come February appeals to the contestants' more savvy side, at least when it comes to business.

As for the reemergence of those plastic surgery rumors, Clay Aiken never did say whether or not he had taken that (drastic) path. But he did take part in a People makeover about nine years ago when the magazine said about this redone American Idol alum: "A dye job and a flatiron made his 'do less dorky. His green eyes got better exposure when he traded in his glasses for contacts."

And so Clay Aiken was nabbed back then and made to appear more appealing for some sensibilities. Now, while plastic surgery rumors have returned, at least one social media follower is being kind about the image. @JessieMcV123, who was retweeted by @clayaiken on Twitter said, "Dear #CelebrityApprentive WHY did you choose that shot for Clay?!? #yourefired"

Indeed.

A softer, gentler Clay Aiken appears in a Twitpic shot (shown here) posted on January 4, 2012 by @showbiztonight where the caption reads: @clayaiken @lisalampanelli on set with A.J! Ready to dish on @realdonaldtrump and #CelebrityApprentice!

And so, with both pictures showing up at approximately the same time, which do you think is the more authentic Clay Aiken? The one where plastic surgery seems to be the only explanation or the one where the 33-year-old looks, well, 33. And nerdy yet appealing, for sure.

Clay suffered from a TMJ disorder and in 2009 had TMJ surgery where his jaw was broken in 2 places and reset. Long recovery process and very painful with lots of swelling that lasts for months. Did it change his appearance. Not really sure as his weight has gone up and down too since idol when he only weighed 140 lbs. Clay discussed this himself in a blog to fans and I'm surprised that no one will ask Clay rather than assume he had plastic surgery.

Don't get me wrong--I really like this young man. But there's something about his plastic surgery that kind of made him look "plastic". I can understand completely if he had this done to correct his TMJ problems--but it appears that he's had other things done when I compare it to pictures of him when he was on idol--nothing to do with his weight.

If you had followed him more closely over the past 10 years, you would realise that he doesn't look exactly the same as he did when he was on American Idol. He looks wonderful in person and is sounding even better than he did on American Idol. Check out his brand new single, Bring Back My Love.

I think Aiken would have no problem to find no credit financing for his plastic surgery. Most people can't afford a cosmetic surgery, however, celebrities like him, should have no issue with any loans or finding financing for their procedure. So why is this even a news a celebrity having a cosmetic surgery?

Clay hasn't had plastic surgery! Gosh, I can't believe there are now a few articles out there about this "supposed plastic surgery". I am a fan and have followed his career for the past nine years. In that time he has filled out and matured--he was painfully skinny on Idol; 6'1" 145lbs. Over the years he has gained 20-30 lbs. (that he really needed) and a few years ago he had to have tmj surgery but he did NOT have any plastic surgery. Frankly, I think he looks better than ever; his age and maturity look good on him. Also, I think he's going to surprise a lot of people during his run on Celebrity Apprentice. He's smart, savvy, funny, hard working and determined to bring attention to his foundation "The National Inclusion Project".

I think Clay Aiken looks great. It's been a long time since Idol and Clay has matured just like all of us have. As for the suit, that's nothing new. If you've followed him at all you'd know that he quite frequently adorns a suit and not just for Trump. I think this season of Celebrity Apprentice is going to be exciting and money will be made for many charities.

NOT - this is crazy! He had TMJ surgery which makes your jaws very swollen, and changed his appearence somewhat. Now he looks just like a young man that has changed into a man.
