It's a love fact: Las Vegas chapels are very busy on Valentine's Day as spontaneous weddings take place on February 14 in these jiffy venues more than any other day of the year.
So where to tie the knot?
Consider the following five places for just such impromptu circumstances on Tuesday in Sin City:
Wedged between massive Mandalay Bay and the iconic Welcome To Las Vegas sign, The Little Church of the West is said to be the oldest chapel on the famous Las Vegas strip and one of the most legendary in this Nevada city.
Your quickie wedding will be one of thousands, many including such well known personalities as Dudley Moore, Judy Garland and Robert Goulet. This is also where Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford tied the knot, and even though that marriage didn't stick, yours has a better chance if you take your vows seriously when said in this quaint redwood chapel located in the heart of Sin City madness.
The Stained Glass Chapel is a great pick for tying the knot if you're in a super hurry since it's situated in downtown Las Vegas very near the courthouse. Erected in 1932 as a jail, this wedding retreat is ideal for looking to be locked up in love forever via a swift and carefree wedding.
Among the architectural highlights are its hand-carved pulpit, an English remnant from the 1700s and its leaded stained glass doors made by hand. An outdoor pool adds to the advantage of getting hitched here since afterwards almost every bride and groom can profit from a cool dip once committing to such a serious relationship.
For a classic Elvis style Las Vegas wedding, there's only one operation that does it up just right. Appropriately, this venue, built in 1927, is called Graceland Wedding Chapel. Owned and operated by resident Elvis impersonator Brendan Paul, he and his rocking staffers help with everything, including wedding vow lines such as "I promise to be your hunk of burning love" and "I promise not to treat you like a hound dog."
Among luminaries who have chosen this spot for their forever afters are Bon Jovi, Billy Ray Cyrus and Aaron Neville. For the romantic touch, a white gazebo protected by a white picket fence and with a bridge leading to and fro makes for the ideal wedding photo, proof you married on Valentine's Day in Sin City. Viva Las Vegas!
Wee Kirk O' the Heather Wedding Chapel started the Las Vegas wedding tradition, with Valentine's Day hitch ups happening since 1944. The Scottish church, with a name that means The Little Chapel of Lucky Flowers in the native lingo from across the pond, offers everything from a walkway lined in rose petals to pews decked out in flowers.
Also of note at the Wee Kirk: Many of the pertinent details can be worked out online (like picking your flowers or choosing your music) before you hit town.
Finally, if you're over the moon about getting married in Las Vegas on Valentine's Day, why not be up in the clouds as well? The ideal place to conquer love this way is located 800 feet above Las Vegas in the tower of the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino.
There, at the Chapel in the Clouds on the 103rd floor, the 108th floor, or outdoors on the 109th floor observations decks, couples not only get to gaze at each other during their nuptials, but they also get to gaze out on an amazing view of the Las Vegas Strip strewn out before them in all its glory.
And so, with these five fine Las Vegas chapels from which to choose, all that's left to say is Happy Valentine's Day and congratulations to all the new brides and grooms who got hitched in the most famous quickie wedding destination in the world on the most romantic day of the year.
