Justin Beiber and Selena Gomez reportedly enjoyed a rendezvous in Florida at the Vinoy, which is indisputably one of the most luxurious hotels in and around St. Petersburg.
It is also haunted.
Or so many say about this resplendent retreat. One such person is Deborah Frethem, author of Ghost Stories of St. Petersburg, Clearwater and Pinellas County. She claims that on the fifth floor of the 7-story hotel, "….a woman who floats through the hallways of the fifth floor."
It's doubtful Justin Bieber or Selena Gomez witnessed this floating woman since their digs were said to be on the top floor of the hotel, thus allowing them to skirt that particular ghost issue said to roam certain hallways.
In fact, the $1,800 Justin allegedly plunked down for his stay was for the privilege to stay in the best accommodation on property. one of the two presidential suites to found at the Vinoy.
He and Selena had quick access off the main elevator to their assigned home-away-from-home, a spacious extravaganza decked out in plush yet plucky decor that mixes contemporary with old world design. White shag pillows in the living room sit on a sectional couch that surrounds a huge coffee table with marble top. The sleeping area mixes antiques (like wooden candlesticks) with contemporary touches (like a full-length mirror outlined in inlaid wood and bold art on the walls).
While there in this luxury retreat on the West coast of Florida, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez likely spent a lot of time enjoying all the swank amenities this awesomely outfitted guest quarters had to offer.
Among them are diverse balconies overlooking both the bay and the gardens, a powder room for guests, flat screen TVs and Jacuzzi tubs -- all fit for a president.
In fact, Calvin Coolidge stayed in this historic pink Mediterranean manse back in the days after he held office. When he did, this very low-key US President, the 30th to serve, often ate in the employee's cafeteria in lieu of the fine dining spots on site.
However, this is not the norm for all the rich and famous who have stayed at the Vinoy over the years.
Those big names include everyone from Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio to Paul Newman and Brad Pitt, from Tiger Woods and Harrison Ford to George Clooney and Eartha Kitt. And now, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez can be added to that prominent roster.
As for the alleged Vinoy ghosts, none were said to bother any of these luminaries but many have been brought up by other guests and employees who say that these apparitions have made rocking chairs rock and have made water turn itself on and off as well.
In fact, Ghost Hunters offered a 2008 program shot from the Vinoy in which some unexplained occurrences were partially explained by the experts of the popular Syfy show.
Meanwhile, the only bumps in the night Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were privy to were probably caused by these very vital (and living) celebrities who decided to rendezvous at this magnificent manse in Florida this weekend.
