Los Angeles Landmark Hotel Gets Drunk For Oscars 2012

This award show season, one of Los Angeles' landmark hotels, The Hollywood Roosevelt, is getting drunk on and for the Oscars in its 84th incarnation. And we mean that quite literally.

But first things first.

This revered property has every right to get a little tipsy at this time of year since the desirable Hollywood retreat's Blossom ballroom was the scene of the very first Academy Awards in 1929.

Now, in 2012, the Oscars will also be on tap, so to speak. However, this time--as a way to salute this very famous award show and the glamour of the most celebratory time of the year for Tinseltown-- the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel's happening Library Bar will be the scene of this very alluring offer.

Tucked away to the left of the luxurious hotel's vast lobby, those who imbibe there will be lucky enough to enjoy a custom concoction created by master mixologist Matthew Biancaniello. And that concoction was conjured up to fit the very special occasion at hand.

In fact, this talented beverage maverick will pay tribute to the Academy Awards through an array of drinks inspired by Hollywood stars.
Consider the Mae West, Biancaniello’s nod to the famous scintillating silver screen siren who was always a bit raunchy but who could still come up with a bit wit and a lot of moxy.

The ingredients for her honorary Oscar-worthy concoction, priced at $15 per dose, includes the exotic mixture of Japanese-pepper spiced Saint Germain, Hendricks gin, and yellow heirloom tomato juice.

This particular cocktail is shaken by Hollywood Roosevelt bartenders, strained into a martini glass, and then presented with a garnishment of red pepper.

Talk about spicy!

But that's what the recently face-lifted Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is all about, especially during Oscar season when visitors who visit this legendary manse can lap up a variety of libations Matthew Biancaniello has created.

Also on the menu this winter, the ever creative mix-meister has come up with a drink called The French Fairy Tale, cocktail that features the unlikely ingredients of pumpkin juice and muddled sage leaves.

Another exotic offering from Biancaniello is the Umami Milkshake, a cocktail that includes an entire egg infused with white truffles imported from Alba.
Meanwhile, back in Hollywood while sitting in the Library at the Roosevelt, the imaginative drinks with ingredients from all the best outlets from all over the world, are drunk at Oscar time with great relish. Oh, and also a few Academy Award-worthy thank you speeches that don't require doing hard work on a feature film in order to make that happen.
