Wang Jing, Chen Jue, Han Ling, Qin Wangping of China celebrate winning the gold medal in the Women's 4x100 relay

The full Chinese team was Wang Jing, Chen Jue, Han Ling and Qin Wangping. All of them missed out on medals in the individual sprints so they were delighted to finally get an Asian Games gold around their necks.

Japan were satisfied with the silver against the might of the Chinese. "We have had a lot of chances to win medals in the past but we have never been able to win one. I am glad to win a medal at last," Tomoko Ishida said.

Sri Lanka came fourth after a bad final baton change, Susanthika Jayasinghe Mannalage being one of those at fault. "We lost time and by the time we sorted it out everyone was gone," she said.
