Nebraska Heart Institute Heart Hospital and South Carolina Heart Center Achieve Cardiovascular Milestones with Siemens Soarian Cardiology 2.0
The Nebraska Heart Institute Heart Hospital (NHH) of Lincoln, Neb., the region's premiere facility for cardiac, vascular and thoracic services, and the South Carolina Heart Center (SCHC) of Columbia, S.C., the largest private outpatient cardiovascular practice in the Southeastern United States, today announced that they have implemented a new multimodality cardiovascular information system designed to streamline clinical, financial and operational workflow across the cardiology continuum with the successful beta implementation of Siemens Soarian(R) Cardiology 2.0.
Siemens Soarian Cardiology 2.0 is an integral part of NHH's and SCHC's strategy to be at the forefront of treating cardiovascular disease by pursuing comprehensive solutions blending cardiac imaging via syngo(R)Dynamics and information technology (IT) to optimize clinical performance and help improve patient outcomes.
"We are very pleased with Siemens Soarian Cardiology from both a patient care and an operational perspective," said Doug Colburn, chief information officer, NHH. "Because Siemens solutions focus on team-based care, we know they can support our care delivery model today and far into the future."
Soarian Cardiology 2.0 is a comprehensive solution that addresses the entire cardiovascular continuum of care. It helps physicians deliver effective cardiac care from admission to discharge and follow-up by providing secure access to images via syngo Dynamics and patient data to give healthcare providers anywhere and anytime access to complete clinical information. Soarian Cardiology 2.0 is highly scalable solution, applicable for offices, imaging clinics, hospitals and multi-facility enterprise health systems.
Using a web-based architecture, Siemens is able to combine medical devices, imaging modalities and Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS), and IT into the cardiology workflow, streamlining patient care and helping to improve clinical, operational, and financial outcomes.
"Soarian Cardiology streamlines information from devices, modalities, labs and outpatient and inpatient settings so that everyone in the chain of patient services can have access to information faster," said Sherry Shults, RN, BSN, CIO, research director, SCHC. "With Soarian Cardiology we are providing our clinicians with complete patient information exactly when and where they need it."
Soarian Cardiovascular Enterprise, which comprises Soarian Cardiology and syngo(R)Dynamics, a multi-modality, dynamic image review PACS, enables evidence-based reporting to help improve the efficiency of clinical procedures for cardiology, as well as applications in general imaging and OB/GYN. Its powerful reporting tools enable clinicians to produce and distribute reports more quickly and with fewer manual steps. In fact, NHH is already experiencing a 40 to 60 percent reduction in the time needed to collect and report data for the American College of Cardiology National Cardiovascular Data Registry, a quality measurement program for cardiac and vascular facilities.
"Our commitment is to deliver a comprehensive cardiovascular information system designed and built to empower care providers to make effective decisions and streamline the patient's journey through the continuum of care, optimizing patient and healthcare organization outcomes," said Janet Dillione, president, Health Services, the Healthcare IT Division of Siemens Medical Solutions - Siemens.
