Symantec Corp. today announced the availability of Symantec eCampus, an online education portal that aggregates affordable, in-depth product training and a robust library of complimentary learning materials specifically geared toward small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs). eCampus helps SMB customers maximize their Symantec technology investments to better manage security, availability, performance, and compliance risks within their Information Technology (IT) environments. In addition to product-based training, customers have access to a wealth of free content on relevant, SMB-specific IT risk management topics.
Symantec designed the user-friendly eCampus interface to help SMBs minimize their time spent locating online training content, and therefore maximize their time spent actually learning. In addition, budget and resource constrained organizations can easily access the affordable online training and free learning materials, such as white papers, webcasts, case studies, multimedia tours, and podcasts, all focused on Symantec products, solutions, and IT industry-related topics.
"We have a very small IT staff supporting more than 130 users and 15 servers in four locations, so effective use of our time and resources is imperative to our success,"Â said Steve Wilson, MIS manager, Cincinnati Thermal Spray. "Symantec eCampus allows us to quickly find the training resources we need and provides us with additional content free of charge to help us get the most from our software investments while maximizing our staff's time."Â
eCampus is comprised of five dedicated training centers focused around Symantec's top products and programs, including Backup Exec, Control Compliance Suite, Enterprise Vault, Symantec AntiVirus, and Security Awareness. The fee-based training is delivered through a variety of methods - self-paced Web-based training, CDs, or live online webcasts - to accommodate a range of learning preferences, schedules, and budgets. Within the self-paced training option, customers can sign up for a one-year subscription that grants them access to a wide array of online Web-based training modules. eCampus contains the most up-to-date technical content and industry-tested best practices, refined with the feedback from more than 30,000 annual Symantec Education Services students.
"By taking the product-based technical training in Symantec eCampus, customers can gain a better understanding of the products they have purchased and can realize the benefits of new features to help them improve IT efficiency, compliance or risk posture,"Â said Paula Hamm, vice president, Symantec Education and Business Critical Services. "We hope small and mid-sized businesses take full advantage of the variety of knowledge and information available on eCampus so they can improve their IT environment, and ultimately, their overall business"Â - Symantec.
