Make Your Own Leather Belt At Cobb And Co. Museum

Learn how to plait your own leather belt from four-time Mary Durack Award winner, Bill Webb at Cobb and Co. Museum on August 30 and 31.

Cobb and Co. Museum Director, Deborah Tranter said that in an era where most goods are mass produced and imported, there is a growing appreciation of quality, hand-made merchandise and the skills required to create such individual and lasting pieces.

"Cobb and Co. Museum’s workshops provide the opportunity for people to learn the basics of these trades and skills from expert instructors and make something they can use," Mrs Tranter said.

The cost of the workshop is $245 which includes two days expert instruction, all materials and morning and afternoon tea and lunch on both days.

Bookings are essential but spectators are welcome to watch the workshop students as they learn the art of leather plaiting from 10:00am to 4:00pm throughout the weekend. -- www.qm.qld.gov.au
