RC Aircraft Air Show Comes To US Air Force Museum

Giant-scale models of jets, warbirds and helicopters will land on the runway behind the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force from Aug. 29-31.

The 13th Annual Giant Scale Radio-Controlled Model Aircraft Air Show is scheduled during Labor Day weekend and features aircraft from all eras of aviation history. Nearly 150 pilots will entertain audiences as they perform skillful and daring aerobatic maneuvers with RC (radio-controlled) aircraft.

Sponsored by the Dayton Ohio Giant Scalers, the air show is scheduled each day from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The aircraft will perform a half-time show from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily, showing off the talent and abilities of the RC pilots.

The event is open to the public, and admission and parking are free. Food and merchandise will be available for purchase.

Those interested in attending the air show should enter the museum gate off Springfield Street and follow the signs to the event area behind the museum. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. -- www.nationalmuseum.af.mil
