BalletMet Columbus offers a glimpse of their 2008-09 season lineup when they perform at the Riverfront Amphitheater, Genoa Park, on Friday, August 29 at 8 p.m. as part of Music in the Air’s Rhythm on the River series. Admission is free.
The program will feature excerpts from the company’s upcoming season as well as a few favorites from previous seasons. The public is invited to arrive early and watch the dancers warm up prior to the performance.
“BalletMet’s summer would not be complete without our annual Riverfront performance,” said Artistic Director Gerard Charles. “It offers wonderful entertainment set against a beautiful backdrop of the river and downtown skyline.”
“Music in the Air thanks BalletMet for their continued partnership and gift of a free performance for the Columbus community,” said Karen Wiser, Director of Music in the Air. “This is a special evening of dance complemented by WaterFire.”
During the evening, WaterFire will light up the riverfront. The incredible vista of dozens of blazing fires burning just above the surface of the Scioto River make WaterFire a one-of-a-kind experience. Fire tenders manage the flames from torch-lit boats, providing bold silhouettes that move slowly between the fires.
Rhythm on the River is produced by Music in the Air, a program of the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department. A summer tradition since 1973, Music in the Air offers free outdoor performances in city parks all summer long. -- www.balletmet.org
