
NYSE Euronext (NYX) announced that its fully-owned subsidiary NYSE Arca today began trading 34 Vanguard Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) after the group transferred over from the American Stock Exchange (AMEX).
Each of the 34 Vanguard ETFs, mentioned below, began trading on NYSE Arca this morning as an exclusive primary listing. Four other Vanguard ETFs – Vanguard Mega Cap 300 ETF, Vanguard Mega Cap 300 Growth ETF, Vanguard Mega Cap 300 Value ETF and Vanguard Total World Stock ETF – were already traded on NYSE Arca.
Vanguard is a leader in the ETF marketplace, offering 38 stock and bond ETFs. Vanguard’s ETF assets grew 25% over the past year ended August 2008, to nearly $51 billion in total assets. Vanguard ranks among the top ETF providers in net cash flow this year, garnering more than $14 billion, which represents about one-third of the ETF industry total cash flow in 2008.
Including today's new listings, NYSE Arca has 306 primary ETF listings, 38 of which are Vanguard ETFs and 80 Exchange Traded Notes. As an industry leader in ETF and ETN listings and trading, exchange traded products listed on NYSE Arca represent 55% of ETF and ETN assets under management in the U.S. , nearly $591 billion, the most of any exchange.
